Dragon’s Den star Shaf Rasul says Scotland’s only Aston Martin dealership shut over Brexit and IndyRef2 fears
A TYCOON claims Scotland’s only Aston Martin dealership shut after being rocked by Brexit and fears of a second indy vote.
Dragon’s Den star Shaf Rasul claims uncertainty over the UK’s future led to punters shunning the posh motors.
It comes after Leven Car Company — which ran the Edinburgh garage — went into administration on Wednesday.
The Scottish Sun columnist said: “Aston Martin in general have been struggling.
“They are not selling as many of the high end cars as expected.
“There has been a lot of uncertainty in the market recently with Brexit and if there is going to be a second referendum in Scotland.
“One of the things you cut back on is a nice car.”
Almost 140 staff face uncertain futures after Leven shut two company sites in the capital and one in Selkirk.
But Astons superfan Shaf, 36, predicts the iconic British luxury motor will bounce back — thanks to the release of James Bond film No Time to Die in April.
The movie spy has driven several including a classic DB5 and a DBS.
Shaf added: “I would say it’s a bit of a bump in the road rather than the end for Aston Martin in Edinburgh.
“A new Bond film always results in a few sales.
“A lot of people will go out and buy an Aston Martin simply because it has been in the movie.”
